Awesome community!
I was shocked when I discovered this community here. My name is Liz, Im 20, and I absolutely hate Simply Delicioso. Ha. I am one of those haters that watch the show for it pure comical relief. First of all, I wasnt so sure if she was really latina or not with a name like Ingrid Hoffman..but thats besides the point. I think she overkills the whole spanish thing with the way she cooks, and plus...the wonderful not-so- sublimal type messages found in her show...Gotta love those margaritas ( go get drunk!) I have never seen anyone dash salt onto broccoli like her ...I just find the whole thing extremely hilarious. She is so latina that she cannot function. *cue the generic latin music*

omg, rice with beans!

and rice with chicken!

wait....i can make that myself in my own kitchen. However, I am not hispanic, nor latina....I am west indian so if I am wrong in my opinion about her overkill on the whole latina thing with Mrs. Hoffman, do tell.

Thanks.

Glad you like the community! And no you are definitely not wrong about her overkill- well at least in my eyes. Everything is "chica" this and "chica" that... I mean enough is enough! And another thing that bothers me is when she asks the audience to smell the food... everytime. HELLO we CANNOT SMELL IT AT HOME!!!!!!!! How ridiculously DUMB is this woman!

"Look at my chica salt and my chica onions and my chica peppers...Sim-pleee-deee-lisseee-o-so! Can you smell it? Look at my chica nose, I can smell it...Here's some chica salt for you..." LOL!

I agree with you about the overkill. The show is called Simply Delicioso; we get it that it's latina, but she really beats that horse long after it's dead. It's almost insulting, as if I have ADD or Alzheimer's and she thinks we need to be reminded that we're watching a latina show. Or maybe she's trying to say, "Si, my name is Ingrid, but the show is Latina. Get it, Latina?"

I know some people criticize Giada for the way she will over pronounce a word sometimes, but at least she doesn't beat you over the head with it. Plus, she's secure enough in her own skin to not have to constantly point out she's Italian as if that makes her more interesting.
